Researcher – Day 1 to 3

Preparing for Field Research is more complicated than I thought. I got distracted and watched the Netflix film “My Octopus Teacher.”

After fantasizing about establishing a deep relationship with an octopus, I realized how lonely I really am. So I ventured out into the world and spent time with people I have met on the beaches here. And connected with people I saw out snorkeling.

Upon my daily snorkel, I realized that early morning is best to see the most creatures. This works great for me as I am a morning person.

What do I love?

The feeling of being in the ocean at one with the creatures. Swimming with the turtles and just surrendering to the flow of the current – no effort just relaxing and letting the Sea decide where I go.

What do I NOT love?

Researching alone is lonely. Swimming alone in the ocean early morning with no one around can be unnerving when I stop and think about it.

Any other reflections?

Apparently I lack self- discipline to research and focus on preparing versus just doing.
